What Are Warehouse Shutters?

Built For The Job. Expert Installation. Ongoing Support.

Warehouse Rollers are designed for use in warehouses and factories where any number of requirements may need to be met.

As well as security, these shutters are often required to operate many times per day and meet fire or security regulations, all while opening as quickly as possible to let staff, and loading vehicles pass through. For this reason our warehouse roller shutters are incredibly versatile products.

They are almost always constructed from steel, however it is also not unusual to find PVC curtain solutions where security is not as much of an issue.

All of these factors can make warehouse roller shutters ver resource intensive. They are often large shutters that require 3 phase direct drive motors to operate efficiently.

With these types of motors and functions, solutions can quickly become expensive so it is important to make sure the specification is as effective as possible.

Contact our sales team now on 0800 112 0083 or email to discuss your requirements.

Warehouse Shutters are available in single phase, 3 phase, or hand chain operation.

What Applications Are Warehouse Shutters Used In?

Warehouse Shutters are typically used for industrial applications that cover a broad number of industries and uses.

Some warehouses and factories require shutters simply for security, whereas others may employ them to improve thermal efficiency in certain processing areas, or to contain dust or potentially harmful substances.

Typical Applications:

  • Storage Facilities
  • Warehouses
  • Factories

  • Hygiene controlled areas
  • Cold Rooms

How Do Warehouse Shutters Work?

Warehouse Shutters often use the most robust motors you will typically find on a roller shutter, especially when duty cycles need to reach 3 figures.

This means that 3 phase power is usually a requirement for an industrial strength shutter.

It is also common to see hand chain operated steel shutters on loading bay doors of warehouses, or on bay areas that are used less frequently.

Roller Shutters can be operated with proximity fobs, or motion sensors, which will allow them to open automatically from one or both sides depending on your needs.

Other typical operations include mushroom buttons, remote keyfobs, and laser photocell beams. If you have a particular operation in mind it is likely that we can make it work, just ask us.

What Options Are Available?

All of our roller shutters are built bespoke to your precise requirements. During a site survey, our engineers will discuss available options including colours, profiles, operation, and anything else you require.

Our shutters are built to the millimetre, and will be designed and manufactured for your exact opening.

As with the rest of our shutters, there are many 100’s of colour options to choose from the RAL and BS colour ranges.

Are Acoustic/Fire/High Security options available?

Warehouse Shutters can be made into any of the above, although certain combinations are not possible.

For example it is not possible for a shutter to be fire certified and security rated at the same time. This is due to conflicting requirements in each of the certifications that make it impossible to satisfy both.

That being said, our industrial shutters often reach LPS1175 SR3 and SR4 security levels, up to 27dB reduction, or 4 hours of fire resistance
